First I want to show off my progress gathering in some of that cheery china I found while visiting the Merkles in the UK. Now isn’t that just fun?

Next, I want you to see that I have been sewing. I’m making crazy little skirts for the granddaughters and remember I have eight of them. I managed to get four made (three for the Merkles) before we went out of town. Now I must finish up the others for my little Moscow granddaughters. We are all going to the Oregon beach this summer, and I picture them all running along the beach in them. Well, maybe Chloe will crawl.

Our good friends Mark and Chris (many of you know Chris because she is our church secretary and a whole lot of help to a whole lot of folks) have just wrapped up a fabulous trip to London and Paris (with a short day-trip to Oxford to see our kids). Mark is a well-known photographer in these parts, so if you’d like to see some amazing photos of their trip (and enjoy the zany commentary), do, please, go to their website and enjoy it all! While in Oxford, Mark very kindly did a photo shoot for Bekah and her new Amoretti designs. These folks just spread goodness and light wherever they go!
Hello everyone! Doug and I have been out of town for a week (just got home yesterday afternoon), and we had very little opportunity to get to the internet while we were gone. (Actually, that was a good thing!) We got to visit old friends, worship with some of the saints in Annapolis, attend two high-school graduations, go out on the Severn River and into the Chesapeake Bay, do some sightseeing, and enjoy the world-class hospitality of our friends in Nacogdoches (that’s Texas!) and in Annapolis. I feel refreshed and ready to go!
So I got to read all the comments (and my daughters’ posts) this a.m. I really appreciate the comments you all make, and the way you make them. It’s refreshing to see the kindness extended to one another, even when you disagree with me or each other. Defensiveness is always a sure sign of some trouble or other, while meekness is evidenced by your teachable spirit toward one another.
So today I must attend to things like laundry, bills, and a host of other domestic duties, but I wanted to send you all a hello out there. Spring has really arrived here in Moscow, and what a different view I have out my windows now that the leaves have pushed out. It is glorious!
I need to confess that I have a passion for picnic blankets. Up until a few days ago I have tried to reign it in and keep it from getting unwieldy. Then suddenly, in a flash of insight I thought “why not? why not just let it rip!” Continue reading ‘I just gave in’
Alright ladies. As you may or may not remember, I recently had to switch the domain name on my website. Thinking that everything was back up and running, I urged you to charge ahead and order yourselves some Skirties. However, it has just come to my attention that there was a minor glitch in switching over to the new site, and some of your orders may not have registered on my end. So if you have ordered, and not received that order . . . please email me right away and we’ll make sure that your Skirty finds it’s way to you!
Can I just give a rather motherly suggestion/warning/concern here? I worry sometimes that Christian women (and men) are too quick to administer home remedies of one kind or another to themselves, each other, or to their children in a careless manner.
The American way is something like, “If one is good, two is better.” What are we doing to our bodies? You have no idea what happens to your body when you eat the equivalent of five bales of hay (which have been compressed into a liquid or a tablet or a smoothie) three times a day. What makes you think this might be good for you? And there is a huge industry devoted to promoting this stuff, and it is not just the conventional pharmaceutical companies that are getting rich.
I wonder if some of the mystery ailments that our brothers and sisters are afflicted with could be the result of them pummeling their bodies with things they just assume are good for them. A few of these, and a couple of those, and a few swigs of this should fix it all right. Way back when I was in college I remember learning about those fat soluble Continue reading ‘Just a Thought’
