I think I should re-read this book. It is a gem! I love how patient and kind he is to this Amercian Lady. Lewis really hated writing letters yet he felt it an important duty to attend to. I am so glad he took the time to write these letters as we can see how his theology “comes through his fingertips”. To quote a favorite pastor.

Have you read his Letters to Children? Another wonderful read! These are the children for which he wrote the Narnia stories.

I was shopping at a strip mall with my mother in law and happened upon an old used bookseller with a cart of books outside the door for $1.00 a piece.

I looked and found this book. And just as I was about to go in to purchase it, my three children came dragging their poor grandmother behind them in a flurry and she had a look of tired desperation on her face and so I put the book down quickly and helped her (them) out. In my haste, I forgot to return.

I have never regretted it so much….

Thank you for sharing the quotes. If ever I come across a hard cover copy for a dollar again, you can bet I will not be so flippant. (And maybe it doesn’t even have to be ONE dollar.)
