Ha! I think I'm jealous - we got stopped a bunch of times for road construction on the way to Oregon last week, but we never got a hippie music party out of it. On second thought - seven kids in the car, it was probably good we got to keep going a bit sooner. Glad you made it home safely :-)

Ah yes, the Snoqualmie Pass blasting. At least you had congenial fellow travelers to pass the time with. For people anticipating traveling over Snoqualmie, you can sign up for email updates that have the dates and times of blasting and other pass closures on the Washington Department of Transportation. *Very important for people going to doctor appointments, airport, or games in Seattle.

I so enjoy reading about your adventures. Both the adventures and the writing are quite entertaining. I thought I read somewhere that you're writing a book about your time in the UK?

We once had an impromptu overnighter in Ellensburg. We were returning from a wedding in Sand Point to our home in the Seattle area. I was expecting our first child and I think I may have acquired food poisoning on top of that. My husband had to pull over for me to "get sick" on the side of the freeway in the pouring rain at least half a dozen times between Sand Point and Ellensburg. Fortunately, my situation was deemed worthy of a hotel room so I was able to spend the rest of the night being sick in a clean, warm and dry environment instead of in a truck stop bathroom. :)
