My mother-in-law Bessie Dodds Wilson is turning ninety today! Rachel posted up a picture of her own proceedings, making a chocolate sheet cake. I am making, at Bessie’s request, an angel food cake with 7-minute frosting. Right now the cake is hanging upside down on my counter, and I’m hoping I can make it look worthy of such an event as a ninetieth birthday dinner. If all goes well, I’ll take a picture. Meanwhile, I thought it more appropriate to post a picture of the birthday girl herself. This is one of my favorite pictures, taken back a couple decades or so ago, of Bessie and Jim in front of their house, where they still live and where we will celebrate tonight.
I like that picture and their house in the background.
Happy ninetieth birthday! What a milestone. I think that this house is right next door to the one I’m moving into this month! What wonderful surprise neighbors. 😉
I love to read about your husband’s parents, Nancy, because you all write about them with such honor and respect. What a blessing she has been to so many people. I hope the celebration was glorious.
Happy Birthday, Bessie! Many Years!
I always thought it was kind of funny that this is Gordon’s favorite cake–now I know why.
I’m waiting for pics of the party! 🙂
