companion

Years ago I started a little newsletter for ministers’ or elders’ wives that I sent out via email. I started out writing it rather regularly, and it gradually became sporadic to practically nonexistent. But Canon Press has helpfully gathered them all up into a book called True Companion that is now available here for preorder.

Pastors’ wives need all the encouragement they can get from one another, and I sincerely hope this book will be a helpful tool for all of you who labor behind the man who labors behind the pulpit, as well as for those of you who labor in other ways in the church.

I have to say that I love the cover. For many years Doug has driven a pick up truck. He started out with an old yellow one. Then came William the Orange (a very old truck that once drifted out of its parking space and into busy traffic…). And then ten years ago he was upgraded to a much newer green one, which he still drives (and loves). I think they have all been Fords…and I don’t know if the one on the cover of my book is or not. But still. It’s cute.

If you click on over to Canon, you’ll see the fun deals they are offering.

The Minister’s Wife

By Nancy Ann | Filed under Uncategorized | Tags: The Minister's Wife

A few years ago I began sending out an email newsletter for ministers’ wives, and now I have a mailing list of over two hundred of you from all different parts of the country, as well as from overseas, and  from many denominations. I have been rather sporadic about this letter, but I am getting ready to send out a December edition. So, if any of you ministers’ wives out there (or elders’ wives) would like to receive this, now is the time to send me your email address, and I will happily add you to the list. (Also, if you old-timers have changed your email address, please let me know and I’ll update my list.)

If you leave a comment here, I will have your email address automatically. Some of you have asked for back issues, and I have dropped the ball on some of your requests, but not on purpose! I am hoping these missives will find their way into a book some day, and then they will all be in one easy place. Meanwhile, I am happy to receive any of your requests for particular topics to be addressed in future newsletters.

The Minister’s Wife

By Nancy Ann | Filed under Uncategorized | Tags: The Minister's Wife

About a year ago I resurrected a newsletter for wives of ministers, and the catchy title for this little missive is The Minister’s Wife. I send this out monthly via email, and I have just under two hundred women who receive it. Most are married to ministers, and some are wives of elders. They are from several different denominations and hail not only from the States, but also from England, Scotland, Australia, South Africa, the Netherlands, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico,  and even Montenegro (former Yugoslavia). As I look over the names on my list of contacts, I am struck by the fact that the world is full of pulpits with faithful men thundering out the Word week after week. But my point in bringing all this up is to say that if you are a minister’s wife who would like to receive my newsletter for wives, drop me a comment and I will contact you.

The Minister’s Wife

6 / 22 / 0811 / 9 / 11
By Nancy Ann | Filed under Uncategorized | Tags: The Minister's Wife

A few years back I wrote a newsletter called The Minister’s Wife, and it was mailed to a handful of wives of pastors around the country, mostly in the CREC. But I got side-tracked and it didn’t last very long. I’m thinking of resurrecting it as an email newsletter to those pastors’ wives out there who would like to receive it. It will not be published on my blog, but rather just sent out to a list of email “subscribers” who would like to receive it.

So, if you are interested, you can leave a comment here, and I will email you back with more information. You do not need to be married to a minister who is pastoring in a church in our denomination. Any pastor’s wives interested are welcome. And if your husband is preparing for the ministry and not yet ordained, you are certainly welcome as well. I will be addressing practical topics that I think might be of help or interest, and you will be able to email me any specific questions or topics you would like me to address. As a minister’s wife of over thirty years, I hope I can be encouraging to you.

When you leave a comment, you don’t need to leave any more information, but when I email you in return, I’d be interested to know a few things about you: what denomination your church is in, how long your husband has been in the ministry, and what part of the U.S. (or what country!) you are in.

I will try to send a “newsletter” once a month, Lord willing. So let me know if you are interested!
